Central Oklahoma Community Action Agency's Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) engages persons 55 and older in volunteer service to meet critical community needs, and to provide a high quality experience that will enrich the lives of volunteers. These opportunities increase our communities' ability to meet the needs of our citizens. RSVP is a federally and locally funded non-profit volunteer placement organization. RSVP receives funding from the Corporation for National and Community Services, Oklahoma DHS Aging Services, United Way of Shawnee, grants and private donors.
Volunteer activities keep senior citizens active and involved while making a significant economic impact though the value of their services. Budgets grow tighter every year for social service and public non-profit organizations. The contributions of senior volunteers greatly expand the capacity of such organizations to meet the needs of those they serve. Our program assists partner agencies with their volunteer needs and strives to help seniors lead active, healthy lives through sustained volunteering.
RSVP volunteers can be seen all around the community serving in the arts, schools, social services, courts, libraries and museums.
As an RSVP volunteer, you are part of a large group of senior citizens with the same interests and goals. RSVP volunteers work together to solve problems and to improve the quality of life and to impact positive change in communities.
